I think our family cat we had when I was about 12 may have got me
interested in hunting more than anything. I had a pellet rifle and
would accidentally meet up with The Cat in the woods occasionally
while out "Hunting". Sometimes she’d climbed aboard my shoulder as
we walked along and it didn’t take her long to realize I could reach
out and touch a squirrel some how. At the shot, she was up and after
it, no matter if it was still in the tree or on the ground. My Dad
was shocked how I’d come home with so many squirrels with only a
pellet rifle. It was our little secret for a long time.
Dad didn’t hunt much but he thought it was important for us kids to
know how to shoot and he taught all us kids, and even Mom, how to
shoot his 22 accurately. I became pretty good at it but don’t think
I ever out shot Dad. With the exception of The Cat, I hunted alone
for a long time. My Dad taught me to take my time before taking the
shot (only allowed me to use a single shot) and The Cat taught me
even more patience. I tell all kids learning to shoot and hunt that
they should loose more game because of waiting too long to shoot
compared to shooting too early.
Dad and The Cat have both been gone many years, but I remember what they both taught me every day, thanks guys. TinHorn

Born and raised in Georgia, I've been
hunting and shooting since early childhood. Primarily a deer hunter
with archery, muzzleloaders, and centerfires. Anywhere, any method,
whitetails are tops in my book. Like Mohuntress, when its not deer
season, I love shooting muzzleloaders in competition, especially my
flintlock longrifle. But anything that burns powder is fun to me. I do some hobby gunsmithing and have built a few muzzleloaders too. Another hobby of mine that I have been involved in for a long time is reloading. I also enjoy casting my own bullets. I have a small bench lathe and a milling machine that I enjoy playing with too. Mostly for making gun parts and repairing guns. Deer hunting and firearms are the two things I find completely fascinating, and I never get tired of talking hunting and guns.

Born and raised here in Missouri, I am 37 years old, and have been hunting and fishing as long as I can remember. My favorite passtime is bowhunting whitetails, but I also enjoy hunting turkeys, rabbits, and squirrels. (among others) I probably spend more than 40 weekends a year out hunting and fishing, as well as all the time during the week that I can. My newest hobby is setting up and checking trail cameras, it makes it seem like deer season all year long. Land and habitat management is also something I spend alot of time at. If I'm not at work, you can find me on a tractor, in a boat, or in the woods somewhere |
