ShoMeOutdoors
Youth Shootout
ShoMeOutdoors.com has
organized a youth firearms safety and firearms instruction day at the
Owensville Gun Club on Saturday, May 17th, 2008 from noon until 5:00pm.
Activities will include a firearms safety program, which will be
administered by Missouri Dept of Conservation hunter safety instructors and
NRA certified firearms and range instructors, clay bird shooting on the
shotgun range, as well as rifle and pistol skills training and practice.
There will also be someone there to demonstrate muzzleloader shooting. All
of which will be one on one,
supervised by qualified instructors. Firearms safety and shooting fun is the
theme of this event. Gun club member, Phillip Anderson has been instrumental
in helping to organize this event. Phillip has worked with the Gasconade Co.
4-H shooting sports program and their club is affiliated with the National
Rifle Association, the Civilian Marksmanship Program, and the Missouri
Shooting Sports Association.
Also participating will be Kyle Lairmore from the Missouri Department of
Conservation and the Gasconade County Youth Shooting Sports Association. He,
too, has been a HUGE help in these events.
We will have on site, the Laser Shot arcade game, which has been used to
train military and law enforcement personnel. Participants will be allowed
to test their skills and reflexes in hunting and shooting situations with
this electronic simulator, which utilizes a video screen and a laser firing
firearm simulator.
This youth firearms safety and instruction day will be held rain or shine at
the Owensville Gun Club which is located on the north side of highway 28
West, approximately 2 miles west of the Owensville, Mo city limits.
Ages 15years and under with or without any prior firearms experience are
urged to attend. Admission is free for everyone. Children must be
accompanied by a parent or adult legal guardian. We are inviting everyone
and anyone interested to this event. Our goal is to teach kids firearms
safety while having fun doing it. This is not a hunter safety class, but
will certainly help any kid who is about to take the MDC hunter safety test.
We encourage you to bring your kids out and join in the fun. Lunch will be
provided and we will also have drawings for some REALLY nice attendance
prizes. All you need to do is show up.
*Hearing and eye protection will also be provided.
Thanks,
