OMG I guess I cant handle it anymore
Well, its official...I HATE people! Warning this is gonna be long and hateful.....
We were excited to have won a pair of passes to the Gasconade County fair, and we went tonight. My son was so excited to see the demolition derby,
and that was the main even we had planned for the night. We get to the stands 45 minutes before the derby to get decent seats. My wife has bad back
problems and cant sit on bleachers, so we sat on the front row so she could sit in her chair next to us. All was fine even though the derby was over
30 minutes late getting started. As soon as they started the cars, a mob of people walked up and stood at the fence watching the derby! We literally
couldnt see anything at all, only the backs of people! Once I asked a few if they would sit so we could see, only to get dirty looks and ignored!
The second time I asked a guy turned around and in a smart xxx tone told me to stand up!!!!!Ive grown up a lot, especially since I became a father,
and with my son sitting next to me,,, I bit my tongue and fought hard to fight the urge to mash his mouth.... And with my son crying because he
couldnt see anything that was going on, I simply picked him up and walked off..... One of the hardest walks Ive ever made! 8 or 9 years ago, Im afraid
the outcome would have been different, but im sure not for the better. This is the maddest Ive been in years, and Im still shaking and completely
worked up over it.... Colton just wanted to come home, he said all he wanted to do was see the derby, he didnt even want to ride any rides, or play
any games.
I cant for the life of me understand how or why people can be so inconsiderate and disrespectful toward other people... I guess the alcohol helps them
to not notice how they are effecting others around them. I mean, they all showed up right when it started and then stand in the way of people who
have been sitting waiting in their seats for the event to start.... Im saddened at the way people in the world are these days, all they are concerned
with are themselves and their own personal comfort even if it is at the cost of someone else... Not to sound like a broken record, but this thing
isnt a one time thing either, it seems like anytime Im in a huge crowd, i just get shown how people act these days. Its sad.....
Oh, well, just had to vent, and Im sorry you guys are the ones to read or hear it, but I think my wife has heard enough of it for the night... Sorry
if I brought someones mood down a bit tonight.
Oh Jeremy, I was gonna call you tonight, but forgot to put your number in my phone before we left.. You wouldnt have wanted to be around us tonight
anyway..lol

When the herd came in it sounded like you needed a cattle prod.
I hate crowds enough I try to avoid where I know the herd is going to be. But you are right, especially in crowds people can be ignorant and forget
all morals.
My wife says that since she loves me she will set me free to go bow hunting. If I come back I am hers……….that is a big IF!

Aww Angus, I'm so sorry that this whole nasty thing happened to you, your wife and your boy. You guys didn't deserve it at all! I wish people would
have more respect nowadays too. I've noticed how horrible I and others my age can act, and I wish we'd be more mature! Not everyone is like that
though, some of 'em are pure and genuine. Keep your head up!

Another prime reason why I have no desire to go to these kind of events. Drunks, idiots, inconsiderate people, and jerks just XXXX me off!

Thanks guys,, I didnt mean to just rant on and make a pity party for myself..lol
And Bridgette,, No, it wasnt anyone your age at all, it was adults..
I agree Mo Hunter1, Every time I get in a big crowd, and see the way general people act, I makes me not want to go to a lot of things that I used to
really enjoy, and the bad part, is my son likes stuff like that, and I usually really dont want to go. He has never seen a derby, I swore off them
years ago here at Salem because of all the fights, and the behind the scenes stuff that went on before and after the derby happened, but thought id
take him to this one,,lol Anyway...

Angus..dont feel too aweful bad about not calling.
we didnt go anyway. the more i thought of it, the more i really didnt want to go deal with the drunk idiots at the hee-haw demo derby. dont get me
wrong, i love demo derbies. I spent years and tons of money and time doing it myself. year after year, it gets worse and worse at these derbies. for
some reason it brings out the trashiest nastiest eople from the woodwork. I stopped running in them because (the pits are worse than the stands), if
you beat somebody on the track, you ended up in a fight in the pits because of it. last year a friend of ours got his head busted open by a logging
chain because he busted some losers radiator during the derby..overheating the other guys car and putting him out. (isnt that what your supposed to do
in a dervy???) its absolutely rediculous to be completely honest. I hate crowds of people..it always seems that no matter where we go...the most
ignorant people find us. i think it was 2 years ago i saw 2 guys get into a full out fistfight because they were walking opposite directions in front
of the bleachers and one bumped into the other and spilled his beer. yep...a guy got flat knocked out over a 3 dollar beer...go figure. i stopped
derbying as much as i hated to, but i couldnt stand the crowd it drew anymore.
personaly, i would contact the fair board and make a very clear and formal complaint. i can got you the contacts if you would like...
on a lighter note, you goin to the charlie daniels concert tomorrow? we'll be there around 7 or so. i dont get home from work till about 630. good
news is...the people that watch the derby usually arent the ones watching CD
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll sit on a boat and drink beer for days on end

I Hate to hear that Angus . I wish Colton could get another opportunity to catch another Derby while summer is in season . Next time you head for
something like this make sure you're wearing a "T" shirt that says security on it , Family security is just as or moreso important than crowd control.
Yes Colton missed out on an exciting event that he was really looking forward to, But Look at the other side on the coin, your little man is in
training 24/7/365 and as time passes, he will still be able to know that the giant of a man that he calls Dad displayed something more valuable to him
than any Demo. Derby could have showed him in entertainment.
I don't do CROWDS ! I've turned down free corporate ball tickes , trips , and dozens of opportunities to sit in the stands at Dover Downs Monster
Mile to watch a NasCar race. Call me wierd, But when you see me in a crowd, it's because I'm among friends .
Hats off to you for being the Man/Dad/Husband that keeps your family proud !!

Thanks again guys... Jeremy, it sounds like we have a lot in common!.. Same as you, I used to help a buddy with his derby car, I worked pit for him
one season, and was hoping to start running my own car, and exactly as you said, after the derby, it was a huge brawl in the pit area.. There is a
group of guys, and if they dont win, someone takes a beating, happened about every time I was back in the pits. Thats the exact reason I havent
watched a derby in over 10 years! I just swore off them, and like you said, they definitely bring out the worst of the worst. I even thought last
night that the other times Ive been around Owensville it seemed like a little better crowd of people,, last night I really saw some dandies... lol
The ones I liked was the mom and dad pushing baby strollers smoking cigarrettes, and carrying as much beer as they had hands for!.. Anyway,, its nice
to see that Im not the only person who hates crowds,, and it seems to be getting worse with age! By the time Im 50 Ill be a hermit! Sounds like I
need to just hang with the folks from SMO!

I will have to agree with you Angus before I had kids people doing that did not really bother me but when I have my kids with me and they really want
to see something and people are doing that to them it really gets under my skin and I want to say something, but don't say anything for fear of the
bad example that I may set for them if it goes south.

Angus....know exactly what you mean. I'm sure sorry for Colton and yes, more and more people are more and more rude, inconsiderate, unkind, impolite,
impudent and just plain need their butts kicked than I've ever before seen.
I wanted so bad to go to Cuba and see Merle Haggard. My old band played nearly every song he put out for the better part of 20 years. My wife read
or heard they were expecting 15,000 people at Cuba so I stayed home. Same with Charlie Daniels at Owensville. As with others I'm just not putting
myself in those positions any more. At your age I was much like you and can't blame you for those emotions. Sometimes I still have them.....but I
ain't your age anymore, my kids are probably your age or older!!!!
