Well it was a balmy 11 degrees out :hmmm: I thought so nice I would go to the river.Got down there decided to go to my usual spot. Was walking the path, almost fell on my Back Side. Decided I better walk in the grass. Managed to get there, Otter tracks all along the bank.Baited up with Red Salmon Egg Power Bait, cast out caught a nice Rainbow. Rebait, cast out caught another, rebait same thing. Rebait, cast, nothing. Tried White, cast out caught one, got it up close throwed the hook. After that they had Lock Jaw but had plenty and I was beginning to hurt too bad so came home.

I\'ve been known to order Trees from MDC and plant each year. This year wasn\'t no different. I ordered White Pines. Planted them today.post-1600-139589322012_thumb.jpgFollowed simple instructions. Dig hole 18 inches circle.Open hole large enough to accommodate the root system without crowding or bending the roots. Shovels, mattocks or dibble bars are commonly used for this.post-1600-139589322012_thumb.jpgPlace the tree in the hole at same depth it grew in the nursery bed. A differentiation in bark color or texture just above the roots denotes the original ground line. Refill hole around the roots, packing soil firmly. This is very important to pack the soil well.post-1600-139589322012_thumb.jpgI went ahead and mulched and watered well. post-1600-139589322013_thumb.jpgThinking of putting 2X4 inch welded wire around them to keep Deer from damaging them.oneshot

Well got up bright and early to see if I could hear any Turkeys gobbling. Got to the woods at daylight. Heard a few. Drove to another area only heard one on property I can\'t hunt. Then drove several miles over, drove up in the woods. Heard birds all around me. Looked up the dirt road, there was a Tom headed my way, I stepped off the road hoping to get a picture, he either spotted me or my Pickup and went the other way.Moon just as it\'s getting lightpost-1600-139589322074_thumb.jpgSun just coming up, looking towards where I seen the Tom post-1600-139589322074_thumb.jpgoneshot

11 Years ago today our Granddaughter Tianna went to be with the Lord. I heard my first Whip Poor Will of the year that morning so every time I hear one I think of her. Her Mom would always have a fit when I would take her fishing. We were to have her the next weekend.

Was invited to a picnic down at Bennett Springs State Park but it was cancelled because possibility of bad weather. So I went to the river to catch Breakfast. Caught my Limit of Rainbows on White Power Bait.

I wasn't only one fishing.

On the way I seen two Hen Turkeys, didn't see no poults, one could have had some but she was in tall grass. As I was coming away from the river, I jumped up what I thought was Quail but it was young Turkey Poults, I seen the Hen. Surprised how good they could fly.
