Not much to report this season. Opening morning, my youngest brother shot a nice buck. Since he was flopping around, my brother took a step forward to take another shot, and when he did, the buck took off. We never did find him, (looked for several days), but my brother did find a big shed that he\'s sure came off the buck he shot  After that, he came and sat with me for the afternoon. We didn\'t see a thing.I saw a total of 4 does the whole season. The first was in the neighbor\'s field on my way home one night, then towards the end of season, I spotted some deer in the field next to my Grandma\'s old lane - I was on the way to my brother\'s which is a couple drives down from there. I parked in front of her gate, went and stood at the fence, and they just stayed there. So, I went back to the truck, loaded my gun, crossed the fence, got about 25 or 30 yards from them, they acknowledged me, kept on grazing, and finally moseyed off. It\'s like they had no problem with me being there. Maybe because I had no desire to use my tags on them - I\'m pretty sure they were the doe and her twins that my nieces and nephews watch out their window - their yard boarders that lane. I do wish I\'d have had my camera out for that, though.Anyway, that\'s all I saw - I didn\'t even see any turkeys, which is REALLY odd :hmmm:. My oldest brother did manage to take a big, fat doe, though. As soon as I got in my stand one afternoon, I heard his shot, so I spent that evening\'s hunt helping him with all the dirty work. It\'s kind of funny, his girlfriend had just left to hunt on her farm thinking she\'d see more action there. Had she have stayed, that doe could\'ve been hers :poke:Here\'s a pic of my oldest brother\'s doe:

Well, now that they\'ve been opened, I can finally post pics of my handcrafted Christmas gifts! I started working on them in November, and it took right up until our Christmas dinner to finish them. I made a recipe book/scrapbook for Mom, a guitar strap with a pouch to hold three harmonicas for Dad, leather wall décor and a heart-shaped glass paperweight with one of their engagement pictures in it for my oldest niece and her fiancé, a charm keychain for my oldest niece, archery arm guards for the little boys, a book mark and a charm bracelet for my 12 year old niece, and a charm bracelet for my 2 year old niece. I hope they all enjoy their stuff as much as I enjoyed making it :thumbup:post-1204-1395893210_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321011_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321012_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321014_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321016_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321002_thumb.jpg

Here\'s a few pics of our Christmas festivities. We have one Christmas Tree with two generations of hand-made ornaments, as well as the star that the doctor gave Mom when she was born - for the adult presents, and another Christmas Tree with all Hallmark Magic Ornaments - for the kids\' presents. P.S. I think Dad likes his guitar strap that I made him ;) Also, Mom LOVES her book :thumbup:post-1204-139589321023_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321025_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321027_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321029_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321031_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321033_thumb.jpg

The oldest son of couple that\'s friends of the family LOVES to squirrel hunt. So, for Christmas, I made him a camo and black paracord squirrel carrier. Here\'s an awesome pic that his dad texted us - a Christmas squirrel :grd:post-1204-139589321035_thumb.jpg

Merry Christmas to me! I have the best Momma ever ;) Mom and I spent two hours at Tandy Leather today using the gift card she gave me for Christmas. How many Mommas do you know that would spend that much time shopping with their daughter for TOOLS, and then have lunch together at a place called The Whole Hog :cooldance: Anyway, 2014 should be a great year for making leather-goods with all of these new tools ;) And, since it\'s New Year\'s Eve, Mom, Dad, and I spent the evening at Dad\'s cousin\'s house - listening to all of the musically inclined folks that were there jam a little bit :grd:Happy New Year, and as always, be safe! post-1204-139589321036_thumb.jpg

I\'d much rather be in the woods, but due to the snow, I\'m stuck inside with the dogs, or hanging out outside with a FAT, FAT squirrel. On the plus side, this has given me a chance to try out some of my new leather working tools ;)post-1204-139589321037_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321038_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321039_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321041_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321044_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321045_thumb.jpg

My FAT, FAT squirrel friend :Ppost-1204-139589321056_thumb.jpg post-1204-139589321057_thumb.jpgI just realized that I have a ton of cool winter pics from December, but since the challenge ends soon, I don\'t have time to re-size them all, and get them posted. Maybe I\'ll post them in another thread later on ;)

Here\'s a custom, leather mouse pad/check writing pad that I just finished for Mom. I carved the words in the same font that she\'s going to use on the window of her store-front. She LOVES it, and that tickles me pink  (By the way, the pic was taken BEFORE I finished the edges - in case you were wondering :poke: ) post-1204-139589321058_thumb.jpg
